UP Board Introduces Vocational Education for Classes 9 and 11
Published on 08 May 2026

Lucknow, May 2026:
In a significant reform aligned with the National Education Policy, the Uttar Pradesh Board has made vocational education mandatory for students in Classes 9 and 11 starting from 2026.

Students will now be able to study vocational and technical subjects such as Information Technology, Electronics, Healthcare, Agriculture, and Retail alongside traditional academics. The move is aimed at improving employability and skill development from an early stage.

Education experts have welcomed the decision, stating that introducing vocational training at the school level will help bridge the gap between education and industry requirements.

The initiative is also expected to encourage students to pursue technical careers, entrepreneurship, and practical skill development rather than relying solely on theoretical education.
