Ahmedabad, April 2026:
A controversy has emerged in Gujarat’s technical education sector over the selective implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during local elections.
An AI training program for faculty at a government engineering college was canceled due to MCC restrictions, while a similar program at a private institution continued with mandatory participation from government college staff. This has raised concerns among educators about inconsistent policy enforcement.
Faculty members have expressed dissatisfaction, highlighting the lack of clarity and uniformity in decision-making. Experts warn that such inconsistencies can disrupt academic activities and negatively impact the quality of technical education.
The issue underscores the need for clear governance frameworks and consistent policy implementation to support the growth of technical education in India.
